SPLASH 2021 will require in-person attendees to be fully vaccinated, as defined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). According to the CDC, attendees “are considered fully vaccinated (a) 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or (b) 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT fully vaccinated.” SPLASH 2021 will offer virtual attendance options for those individuals who are not fully vaccinated. Vaccination validation will be conducted by a vendor contracted by the ACM to perform this validation for the SPLASH 2021 conference. Masks are required at SPLASH 2021.

The virtual attendance option is available to unvaccinated attendees.

SPLASH 2021 has selected the Swissôtel Chicago (323 E. Wacker Drive | Chicago IL 60601 | USA) as the in-person venue for the conference.

The SPLASH 2021 Hybridization committee has prepared a detailed specification for the hybrid conference. Next, the committee will be implementing this plan. The hybridization committee and SPLASH General Chair welcome comments on this plan from the broader community. To give your feedback fill out this form. SPLASH 2021 will be held as a Hybrid Conference. There will be a physical conference in Chicago as well as a virtual component. More details to follow. Suggestions from the SPLASH community are most welcome and could be sent to the General Chair Hridesh Rajan and the Hybridization Committee Chair Jonathan Aldrich.

SPLASH 2021 team has completed in-person visits to hotels in Chicago in an effort to continue to explore the logistics of the physical part of the hybrid conference. During these visits, we had conversations with the hotel team about the venue, sleeping room details and rates, accommodating virtual participation, and the safety protocols in place at the hotel. We are currently exploring the financial aspects of these logistics.

SPLASH 2021 has formed a hybridization committee to explore a hybrid (physical/virtual) option for the conference. SPLASH 2021 will definitely have a virtual option to present and participate in the conference. We are exploring logistics of the physical part of the hybrid conference. If those work out, there will be a physical meeting as well.
